He is one of the creative minds behind the Point in Time label, which focuses on vocal electronic grooves but always steers clear of clichés, as does his latest single…

Collé - Interview

Hey Collé, thanks for chatting to Minimal Mag, how are you?
Hey guys, thank you for having me! I’m in the middle of the summer season with lots of fun things happening, so I’m doing really well! My new release on One Tribe is coming out and this weekend I’m playing at Tomorrowland, both of which I’m really looking forward to.

This month, you’re dropping a brand new release on New York based imprint, One Tribe. Tell us about the release as well as your partnership with the label?
Yes, I’m very happy with this release, I think it’s perfect for summer and beach days! I met AMÉMÉ a few years ago in Istanbul during a show, and that’s when the idea was born to do something for One Tribe. It took a while, but finally, the release is here, haha!

As a Dutch artist, what drew you into the sounds of Afro House?
It might not seem very logical for a Dutch guy to make Afro House, but once I get into the studio and let my creativity flow, I somehow always end up with Afro-like rhythms and grooves. I also think it’s cool to experiment with sounds that don’t necessarily come naturally to me; it keeps things interesting and that’s where I find my inspiration.

We’d love to know more about Point In Time.
Point in Time was something I started during COVID with a good friend, Marwan Abousham. At the time, it was mainly an outlet for my own tracks since we didn’t have much going on. After that, not much happened because we both got busy with shows and other projects. Now, we’re working on bringing it back to life, so if anyone has cool music, we’d definitely love to hear it.

Do you have any advice for aspiring producers?
The most important thing is to do what you love and follow your own instincts. If you think it’s cool and it feels right to you, then it’s good! It might sound like a cliché, but even I have only recently started truly embracing this.

When you’re not making beats and spinning tracks, what do you like to do in your spare time?
For me, it’s 24/7…When I have free time, I’m in the studio.

Do you have any other projects planned for the rest of 2024?
Yes, there’s a lot more new music coming this year. My next EP will be on Human by Default from Bedouin. Besides that, I have many shows lined up with highlights like Tomorrowland, Saga at Pacha Ibiza, and Mystery Land in Amsterdam; I’m super excited!
